086 It's NYCC and We're Bringing the Exclusives!
The Massive-Verse descends on NYCC and we're bringing a SPECIAL edition of the Radiant Black Hardcover! Plus, Rogue Sun meets Medieval Spawn!
Hey everyone! Kyle here, coming to you from Los Angeles—and yeah, it’s been a minute.
Between juggling the usual mountain of projects and navigating some health stuff (I’m okay! I promise!), these newsletters slipped a bit further down the to-do list than I’d like. But the good news? I’m back, mostly caught up, and determined to get these out more consistently again. (Yes, really. You can stop laughing now.)
Speaking of things that took a while—I just got back from Las Vegas after an incredible weekend centered around the Bears vs. Raiders game. The new stadium? Absolutely stunning. The fan turnout? At least half Bears fans—maybe closer to 80% if you count all the Raiders fans who kept leaving for bathroom and food breaks. It’s almost like they don’t like football. *Ducks*
I also got to hang with my friend and Chicago Bears legend Lance Briggs—who some of you may remember I collaborated with on The Trap back in 2021. We’re cooking up some plans for a wider release of that book (it’s only been available through the Kickstarter edition so far) but if you’d like to snag a copy from our storefront, let me know. We still have some copies and we should be able to get it listed. It’s a really fun interstellar sports noir that I’m excited to get into more people’s hands.
Anyway. Football’s over. Comics time!
The Greater Chicago Food Depository
But before we dive too far into the comics themselves, I wanted to make sure to plug our video from earlier this summer. This debuted through the QR code in Radiant Black#36 and was a really special promo to make. It also marks the first live action appearance of Radiant Black!
I flew back to Chicago a few days before SDCC to film this and it was an absolute blast. Huge shoutout to Joe Clark, Ryan Smetana, Mike Jackson, Alec Siegel and of course, Will Friedle.
And if you’d like to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository, I’ve got a link for you right here.
New York Comic Con
This week is the big one—New York Comic Con! I’ll be set up all weekend in artist alley at booth G-40, where I’ll be doing signings each day and running some killer deals on all Massive-Verse books
Then on Sunday, we’ve got our annual Massive-Verse panel—this year featuring myself and Brian Buccellato (NO/ONE)—where we’ll be sharing more about NO/ONE, the Radiant Black audiobook, making some more massive announcements (pun very much intended) and welcoming a few special guests to the stage.
One small change this year: there won’t be an official Massive-Verse meetup. We tried, but logistics won. But we’ll bring it back next year, promise. And if you catch me wandering the floor—or at a nearby pizza spot—come say hi. I promise I only look and feel tired :)
Now, for those of you making the trip to NYC, here’s something you won’t want to miss: the Radiant Black Massive Edition – NYCC Exclusive Package.
It’s Volume One of the Radiant Black: Massive Edition featuring a brand-new dust jacket, a custom bookmark, and a foil variant of your choice—specifically, one of our rare 1:25 incentive covers from issues #31–35.
And because I can’t help myself, I’ll also be remarquing every hardcover in blacklight fluorescent ink. (Don’t worry, it comes with a Radiant Blacklight so you can see it in all its glowing glory!)
This collector’s package will be available for $100—a deluxe bundle designed to melt faces and wallets, but hopefully in the best possible way.
For those of you who can’t make it to New York, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. A limited number of copies are available for pre-sale right now, exclusively for newsletter subscribers. These will ship a month or so after the con and will come with a signed bookplate (signed by me) instead of the remarque. Everything else—the dust jacket, bookmark, and foil variant—is included.
**An important note: If you buy one of these now but are coming to NYCC, there is unfortunately no cross pollination. Meaning, I can’t give you your copy in NY (the stock is separate).
Of course, if you do grab one of these online and bring it to me at a show next year or in the future, I’ll be happy to do the remarque for you there!
**Another important note: The way this is setup on our storefront is a little confusing— instead of adding the product directly to your cart, scroll down to the BUNDLE section. There, you can select your bookmark AND the foil of your choice.

Remembering Adam Ramusiewicz
Before I wrap up today’s post, I want to take a moment to talk about someone special in the Power Rangers community — Adam Ramusiewicz, who tragically passed away in early September while on a trip to Las Vegas.
I met Adam through mutual friends during my time on Power Rangers, and over the years, I always looked forward to seeing him at conventions. He was one of those people who made every room just a little bit brighter — kind, funny, and relentlessly supportive. Whether he was talking comics, Rangers, or just life, Adam had this genuine enthusiasm that lifted everyone around him.
My friend and collaborator Mat Groom put it beautifully:
I knew Adam as someone who had been relentlessly supportive of (and enthusiastic towards) my work for years + years. From SELF/MADE to IMMORTAL LEGEND BATMAN.
Today I’m learning he was that — the encouraging, kind person who made your day a little better — for SO many people.
When people who lead quiet, kind lives leave us, their passing doesn’t trend on here. They don’t get acknowledgements from famous people or public officials. They don’t make the news.
But they matter. They matter to all the people who benefitted from their kindness.
And from the immense outpouring of grief from people in the Ranger community right now, it’s clear to me… a LOT of people benefited from his kindness.
That’s a life well-lived… even if it was cut tragically, unfairly short.
Goodbye, Adam.
If you’re able, please consider supporting Adam’s family through their SpotFund.
Adam was one of the good ones — kind, gentle, and genuinely supportive. I’ll miss seeing him, and I know many others will too.
Rest in peace, Adam.
That’s going to do it for today! It feels good to be back in your inbox—with bad jokes, football slander, and a few dozen spinning plates of comic news. NYCC is always one of my favorite weeks of the year, and I can’t wait to see many of you there—or to share more for those following along from home.
Until next week!
Stay Radiant!
Kyle
Los Angeles

Sheeesh, maaan, I, for one, am glad you’re back(and that there is no health scare for the community 🫰🏾). If I can take some time to address the multitude of info you just hit us with:
1. The Trap: now I THOUGHT I was getting caught up on all of your stories, but I am today-years-old hearing about this one, and I absolutely need it. I’ve been looking for something else to absorb, and this one sounds particularly intriguing.
2. Seeing RB LIVE is something I need the world to get on board with. Simply put, we aren’t introduced to characters like him, and your readers know that(that’s why I shamefully question some of my purchases, when I know I’m just waiting on one of yours to drop 😂). I wish I could get out to NYCC to say all this, but I’ll get you Lucifer’s Pizza when you get back, and we can hash out the importance of him lol. In all seriousness, I’ll be on the site, grabbing my dust copy, and I thank you for allowing the option.
3. SPAAAAAAWN…ahem…hell yeah
4. NO/ONE-one of my top 3 favorite reads…no, experiences in all my comic book life. Too TOO excited for this(still getting right, for when it’s audition time lol)
5. Adam Ramusiewicz- I haven’t seen better, written, to honor the passing of a friend, especially how your friend Mat Groom articulated it:
“When people who lead quiet, kind lives leave us, their passing doesn’t trend on here. They don’t get acknowledgements from famous people or public officials. They don’t make the news.
But they matter…”
This is so refreshing to read, as someone who doesn’t have a name that the world knows. When I lost my friend, I did what I could to let my community know him, by creating a visual album acknowledging who he was, to me; a care-free spirit who loved good food and laughing exceptionally hard(still working on the premiere date, but the private screening last month was pretty good). To share those moments, even metaphorically-pivotal. It was…just nice to remind them of who he was. I say all that to say, I commend you both, and thank you, for spotlighting Adam. I never got to know him, but Atleast I know who he was to others.
Okay, I DO THIS EVERYTIME…away too long winded. Thanks for doing what you do. Stay healthy, and let me head to the gym, incase you need me for the Radiant Black movie, of course. I truly look forward to what happens next.
Man, between the release of Tron: Ares and the incoming Massive-Verse news at NYCC, this is going to be a big week for me specifically. Joking aside, I'm very excited to see what news you and the rest of the MV crew have in store for us at NYCC (even if I won't be able to catch it live). Plus those previews for Rogue Sun 30 and Radiant Black 38 are looking mighty enticing (especially with a certain Medieval Spawn appearing in the former).
To get a little more serious here, that tribute that you posted for Adam at the end was wonderful. I never interacted much with him, but from those few interactions, I could tell he was a great person and he will be missed.
