085 It's Showtime!
The Massive-Verse heads to SDCC! Plus, Medieval Spawn is coming to Rogue Sun!
Annnnnnd we’re back!
Hey there! It’s been a minute! Kyle here, coming to you from my desk in LA on the morning of what’s slated to be another jam-packed San Diego Comic Con.
I know it’s been a while since I put out a proper newsletter—apologies on that front. It’s also been a minute since we did a Radiant Black or Rogue Sun livestream—extra apologies there!
I feel like a broken record at this point, but the last few months have been… intense. We’ve been hard at work on the next few arcs of Radiant Black and Rogue Sun, putting the finishing touches on Inferno Girl Red Book Two, as well as Immortal Legend Batman, Spider-Verse vs Venomverse, the NO/ONE screenplay, recording more of the Radiant Black Audiobook and—per usual—a litany of other projects and behind-the-scenes endeavors that you haven’t heard about yet.
Although, if you do want to hear about some of the crazy (secret) stuff we’ve been up to, Friday’s “Kyle Higgins: Radiant Black, The Massive-Verse, and More” panel (room 25ABC) would be a great place to start (hint hint :) If you’re coming to the show and you’ve been digging what we do, I highly recommend making it to the panel. Oh, and if you like getting really cool stuff (maybe even for free!) then you really should make it out (hint hint hint! ;)
This year, I made the difficult decision to not table at the show. The truth is, while I absolutely love SDCC… it’s become harder and harder each year to squeeze in everything I need to do, especially as my responsibilities have grown on the books and the Black Market Narrative side.
But! If you’re attending, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to catch me. In fact, I’ve got my schedule right here!
A few things I’d like to specifically call out— first up, a really special panel that I’ll be joining with Kelly McMahon, Ryan Parrott and Nick Cotton on Thursday that anyone with creative endeavors— whether you’re a seasoned pro or brand new to the game— might be interested in checking out.
We’re going to be diving into the creative process, discussing a number of prior Massive-Verse projects as well as Kelly’s acclaimed Bad Blood. It’s going to be a fun, introspective conversation with tons of visuals and breakdowns. Come see how we make the stuff we make! Room 24ABC, Thursday at 5:30PM.
And speaking of that stuff, as previously mentioned, you’re definitely going to want to find your way to room 25ABC on Friday at 12PM for our annual Massive-Verse panel. Join Ryan Parrott (Rogue Sun), Nick Cotton (Rogue Sun), Brian Buccellato (NO/ONE) and myself for an hour of surprises— including surprise guests (!) and surprise giveaways (!!)— plus all sorts of exclusive first looks at some of the big stuff coming this year. Moderated by Circle Guy News and The Invincible Podcast’s Ryan Sidoti!
Then, just a few hours later at 3PM, you can find all of us plus Melissa Flores (The Dead Lucky) at the Image Comics booth where we’ll be doing a big group signing! Actually, this is going to be my only signing at the convention!

Massive Promos
Since our last newsletter, we’ve had several issues come out for both Radiant Black and Rogue Sun, which means several killer new promos voiced by Will Friedle (Radiant Black) and Johnny Yong Bosch (Rogue Sun). I thought I’d embed a few of them here, including our upcoming promo for Radiant Black #36, and extra special issue hitting stands on August 6th. How special is this one? Now With More SPAWN
With October solicits dropping last Friday, that means we’re finally able to talk about one of those big secrets we’ve been working on— Medieval Spawn is coming to Rogue Sun!
Now, I can’t say much more than that today, but if you’re coming to our Massive-Verse panel on Friday (have I plugged that enough yet?) then you’ll hear a whole bunch more.
In the meantime, take a look at these sick covers by Stefano Simeone (A cover and 1:20 virgin C cover) as well as our incredible homage cover (it’ll have the logo and dress very soon! I promise!) by Abel and colored by Radiant Black’s own Marcelo Costa!
Now, there may or may not be one more special cover coming… but we’ll save that for a little later!

One more thing before I get out of here— since our last newsletter, we’ve had a ton of crazy cool covers revealed for Immortal Legend Batman, the wild Tokusatsu-inspired (among other things!) Elseworlds book from myself and the entire Inferno Girl Red creative team— Mat Groom, Erica D’Urso, Igor Monti, Becca Carey— plus the legend himself, Dan Mora, and one of my favorite colorists working, Tamra Bonvillain!
On Saturday, you’ll want to swing by Room 6DE for the Gotham City Panel— which features some killer familiar names— where I’ll be able to talk about this insane (in the best possible way) series in a bit more detail.
